The Diocesan Vocation Service Centre was established in 1971. The inspiration to start this dynamic Centre came from Rt Rev. Dr Basil S. D’Souza, Chairman of the C.B.C.I. – C.R.I. Joint Commission for Vocations. However the vocation Bureau in Mangalore was already functioning for a decade or so earlier to it.

The main objective is to foster and promote vocations to the priesthood and Religious life for the Apostolate of the Church in India.

The centre is headed by a Director who through visits to parishes, schools, conducting camps and seminars, fosters vocations. He visits the parents of the junior seminarians until they reach the major Seminary.
